National Health Care Decisions Day falls on April 16th for the entire nation. And the message of the Tax Day deadline falling the day before resonates everywhere. But here in Boston particularly and for the rest of the Massachusetts, NHDD coincides with #PatriotsDay and the somber reflection on the Boston Marathon bombing. What better day to think about the plans of those who will be left behind? Advance Planning has no age limit and is truly necessary for everyone. Take a moment today to bring your thoughts on this to action. Make a plan and discuss it with your loved ones. #NHDD #TakeAction #StartTheConvo

We honor our longtime Board Member Ed Mulvey, who served as Board President and Treasurer and was a proud Army Veteran and Cohasset resident. His leadership and discernment was instrumental in the development of South Shore Elder Services. CEO Sandra Lindsey summarizes Ed's impact this way: "Ed was instrumental in so much of what we did for years. He was a true loyal partner.” We will miss his wisdom, his wit and his sharp sense of what needed to be done to move forward.

We're watching out for our at risk consumers today during the snow storm. All of our home delivered meals consumers have extra shelf stable meals. Our 11 cities and towns have extra emergency meals with our police forces and we'll monitor our main (781) 848-3910 number throughout the duration of the storm. Keep an eye out for #OlderAdults and #PeopleWithDisabilities in your neighborhood. #Safety

November is #NationalFamilyCaregiversMonth - a time to show our appreciation and support for #caregivers who go above and beyond for their loved ones daily. This year’s themes, #CaregivingHappens and #CaregivingAroundTheClock, convey how people suddenly find themselves in a #caregiving role without the training and supports they need. This month, we will honor caregivers and share resources to help them navigate their caregiving journey.
