An unfortunate outfit. A mother’s advice that never quite leaves us. Curtain Call Theatre invites audiences to discover the stories behind the clothes in Love, Loss, and What I Wore, running November 6–15, 2026.Written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron and based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, the play weaves together women’s stories of love, identity, family, and loss through the clothing that accompanied them. With sharp humor and heartfelt honesty, it explores how seemingly ordinary wardrobe choices can hold extraordinary memories. The production is part of Curtain Call Theatre’s “Hear Her Roar!” season, celebrating women’s voices, courage, and power.Directed by Josiah George of Rockland, this production brings those memories into the room through the clothing itself. The actors share the stage with garments mentioned in their stories, making each piece a tangible connection to a person, a moment, or an earlier version of themselves.“Every article of clothing we have worn can carry an association, a memory, or a meaning,” said George. “I wanted to bring that emotional connection onto the stage by having the clothing present, almost as characters themselves. The clothes become doorways to forgotten experiences. This show will make you laugh, cry, hoot and holler—and perhaps even want to get up and dance. Men, fear not: you may be outnumbered, but you will be no less entertained. You might even learn something.”The cast features Diana Costine of Milton, Jeanne Lucas of Rockland, Margaret O’Brien of Abington, Zoe Rodriguez of Dorchester, and Toni Ruscio of Weymouth. The connection between clothing and memory extends to the cast’s own lives. In an interview for the theatre’s ‘Hear Her Roar!’ season, Zoe Rodriguez recalls playing in her childhood yard wearing a gold dance leotard covered in iridescent sequins.“And even now, I can remember exactly how joyful it felt to wear something so delightfully dramatic,” said Rodriguez. “Apparently, I was always meant for the stage!”For Ruscio, Curtain Call Theatre’s producing artistic director, performing in the production offers an opportunity to champion women’s stories while helping bring them to life.“We all have something in our closet that we can’t let go of because it holds more than fabric—it holds a piece of our lives,” said Ruscio. “As an artistic director, I love giving these women’s stories a place to be heard. As an actor, I love how quickly they move us from laughter to recognition to tears. My hope is that audiences leave talking about their own stories—and remembering the people who were there when they wore them.”The production team also includes stage manager Amanda Albion of Dover and set and lighting designer Jim Gross of Weymouth. BRAINTREE, Mass. — A favorite dress. An unfortunate outfit. A mother’s advice that never quite leaves us. Curtain Call Theatre invites audiences to discover the stories behind the clothes in Love, Loss, and What I Wore, running November 6–15, 2026.
Written by Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron and based on the book by Ilene Beckerman, the play weaves together women’s stories of love, identity, family, and loss through the clothing that accompanied them. With sharp humor and heartfelt honesty, it explores how seemingly ordinary wardrobe choices can hold extraordinary memories.
The production is part of Curtain Call Theatre’s “Hear Her Roar!” season, celebrating women’s voices, courage, and power.
Directed by Josiah George of Rockland, this production brings those memories into the room through the clothing itself. The actors share the stage with garments mentioned in their stories, making each piece a tangible connection to a person, a moment, or an earlier version of themselves.
“Every article of clothing we have worn can carry an association, a memory, or a meaning,” said George. You might even learn something.”
The cast features Diana Costine of Milton, Jeanne Lucas of Rockland, Margaret O’Brien of Abington, Zoe Rodriguez of Dorchester, and Toni Ruscio of Weymouth.
The connection between clothing and memory extends to the cast’s own lives. In an interview for the theatre’s ‘Hear Her Roar!’ season, Zoe Rodriguez recalls playing in her childhood yard wearing a gold dance leotard covered in iridescent sequins.
“And even now, I can remember exactly how joyful it felt to wear something so delightfully dramatic,” said Rodriguez. “Apparently, I was always meant for the stage!”
For Ruscio, Curtain Call Theatre’s producing artistic director, performing in the production offers an opportunity to champion women’s stories while helping bring them to life.
“We all have something in our closet that we can’t let go of because it holds more than fabric—it holds a piece of our lives,” said Ruscio. “As an artistic director, I love giving these women’s stories a place to be heard. As an actor, I love how quickly they move us from laughter to recognition to tears. My hope is that audiences leave talking about their own stories—and remembering the people who were there when they wore them.”
The production team also includes stage manager Amanda Albion of Dover and set and lighting designer Jim Gross of Weymouth. Director Josiah George also serves as sound designer, and he and Albion share responsibility for props and set dressing.
